How many hits?

In the early stages of Curesam.com, I have been putting a few posts on a week. I have been using it as a learning process really. The full site is still being worked on by the developers and they are behind schedule. So until it’s ready, I have been putting my articles up using a standard WordPress layout, without any changes, just getting into the habit of blogging really.

I don’t know if my thoughts make for interesting reading or not. Time will tell. Once we are up and running with the proper layout, I am hoping to be able to commercialise it in some way, to raise money for Diabetes UK. If people visit, and I have ads on here, the revenue earned will go to finding a cure.

To this end, I have been following the visitor numbers with interest. I checked Google Analytics this morning to find there had been our 500th visitor and that we were over 1500 pageviews – since we started on 13th Spetember.

I don’t know if this is a lot or not, but it gives me a base to try and improve on for next month.

If you think, anything could be improved, let me know. If you are already blogging about either diabetes or cycling, or both, I’d be interested in your experiences about visiting numbers and revenue’s that you earn. Am I flying kites here? Can a simple blog earn any sort of revenue?

As a comparison, I will have earned about £1500 doing three days fund raising outside my local ASDA. I can’t do that every week, but if they’ll let me do it once a year, it would be enough to enter an annual Diabetes UK event.

Does a site like this have any hope of generating advertising revenue to those sort of levels, or beyond? I don’t know, but I intend to try. And if I can make it interesting, irreverent, and informative to readers along the way, hopefully it will do some good.
