London to Paris

On Thursday 9th September, I will be setting off to ride from London to Paris to raise funds for Diabetes UK.

Technically, I will be cycling from Tickhill to Paris and back, but some of the bit’s inbetween will be on a train and a ferry.

Before starting the ride proper, I will have to get to London, so will leave Tickhill with a rucksack on my back and ride the 10 miles to Doncaster Train Station, before catching the 1417 to London Kings Cross – my bike is booked on too and even has it’s own ticket…

Once I arrive at Kings Cross, I am going to try riding across central London – I need to get to Greenwich for an early morning start on Friday. I have actually cycled in London once before but all the roads were closed!!! We did the London Sky Ride last September but I dont think that counts! Not sure how many miles that will be or what route I am going to take yet – perhaps I should do some research….?

I will be staying somewhere in Greenwich (again, need to get that sorted) on Thursday night, then joining up with 35 other intrepid individuals very early on Friday morning at Greenwich train station to start the 200 mile ride all the way to Paris.

I will be travelling light but will take my iPhone and iPad to try and update this blog as much as possible….

I should probably say something along the lines of how arduous this challenge will be, calling on all my mental and physical stregnths to get me to the end – to make you more likely to sponsor me….

But to be honest, I am really looking forward to it and can’t wait!!!
